La Casa di Sasso was originally an ancient Kiln founded between 1810 and 1815.
We do not know the names of the first inhabitants.
Still today the land register name for the area is “La Fornace” (The Kiln).
It was then occupied by the farming family Mazzoni dal 1946 al 1959.
The first ownership was by: Mascagni Maria Elisabetta in Cherici.
the first address was: frazione Lignano n. 90.
It was then occupied by the farming family the Casalis, from 1925 to 1945.
Ownership then passed to Folco Cherici, son of Maria Elisabetta.
Its address became no. 9 Popolo di Saccione.
It was abandoned from 1959 to 1970 when it was bought by Gino Boncompagni from Folco Cherici.
Its address then became Località S. Marco, 40/g and is still the same today.
The Legend of the Stone from the House of Stone
…Once upon a time there was a stone, lying on the ground, on a green hill, surrounded by ancient olive trees.
To tell the truth, it was a beautiful stone, more beautiful than many others, a little rough but with specks of gold which sparkled in the light of the sun and the shine of the moon.
Not many noticed its beauty, for few passed that way and more often than not, they were distracted…
But one day, a funny old traveller, who was passing by, decided to rest for a while.
He had walked a long way and still had many miles to go.
As he was old and tired, he was walking slowly, with his head bent forward and his gaze rested on the humble stone.
He thought it was wonderful and as he sat upon it to rest, he thought it was comfortable too.
The man, whose age you could not tell, breathed a sigh of relief and felt a great sense of gratitude toward that providential stone.
So, he decided the stone was worthy of a gift that would make it truly special, for ever...
...Years later, the stone was gathered up by a distracted builder who needed stones to build a farmhouse nearby.
They say that still today, in that house, you can hear a heart-beat, and that anybody who is lucky enough to stay there, will receive the gift of feeling loved...
...We have been in that house...
